Iron Bowl. Two words that can immediately evoke pride, distaste and a heated word exchange between two people faster than you can say “Roll Tide” or “War Eagle!”
The University of Alabama and Auburn University have been meeting to play in the Iron Bowl since 1893 and the rivalry between the two schools runs deep. On game day, it is not uncommon for siblings, spouses and friends to be completely divided on which team for which they choose to root for–which might sound strange to those who do not cheer for either the Tide or Tigers.
Like many families and offices in the state of Alabama, the Starke Agency office is completely divided when it comes to ‘Bama and Auburn Tiger football. Because of this, our office has decided to team up with the Montgomery Area Food Bank to host an Iron Bowl Food Drive, and we’re inviting everyone in the River Region to join us!
From November 1st until November 21, Starke Agency will have Alabama and Auburn boxes set up at the front of the office to collect food* or money in support of the schools and the Montgomery Area Food Bank. MAFB will weigh each team’s collection separately and will calculate each dollar received into 6.5 pounds of food. The total score will be the weight of the canned goods, in addition to the money that will be converted to pounds.
Starke Agency is excited to bring friendly rivalry to our office and community. We hope to donate as much food and money as possible to assist the Montgomery Area Food Bank with helping those in need, over the upcoming holidays.
